am i to tall

hi i am currantly riding a 4yr old standard bred gelding who is 15hh on tip toes ;) and i am 5ft7 and 10st and 13 years old am i to tall ??

Hi Ash,

Without seeing you and your horse, I think the short answer is probably no, you're not too tall. A lot of what makes us a good match for a horse isn't about how tall we are or what we weigh, though, it's more about how we ride. If you ride well, feel balanced, and your horse is comfortble with you on his back, then you should be fine.

One great example of someone who might have been thought too tall for a horse was Mark Todd (6'3") and his famous horse Charisma, who was only 15.3hh. I don't think his height stopped him!

Liz has a very good point, it's more about how you ride. If you ride like a sack of potatoes, you'll feel heavier to the horse whereas if you ride in balance, you'll appear to be lighter.
