best appearance for in hand best turned out
I have a 15hh irish cob who has a full mane and tail. The yard where i keep him is organising an amateur show and i plan to enter him in 'in hand - best turned out'. How should he be presented?

I would just tidy him up slightly. Trimming a bridle path, ears, jaw line, pull the straggly hairs on the mane and expletive - not to the extent of a pulled mane but just tidied up a bit, and trim the base of his tail, tidy up his feathers if they are touching the ground but dont chop at them with the scissors. Give his mane and tail and feathers a good wash and make sure he is spotless. Use a bridle for leading in hand.
