First Working Hunter Class, which bridle/bit??

Postby fattywawa » Thu Jul 08, 2010 3:07 pm

I'm just about to take my new horse to his first working hunter show.

Which bridle/bit combination should I go for?

I've seen so many from double, pelham to snaffle in the ring, which is correct??

What sort of bit do you normally ride in? I think for working hunter the choice of bit is a little more flexible but not completely sure.

I would personally stick with that because he is used to it and judges love to see a well mannered horse with simple tack. The plainer and more workmanlike the appearance the better.

From the rules of the NIWHA, any bit is allowed except a hackamore. The bit and noseband is taken into consideration in the marking though.
