Happy hacking!
Don't forget to double and triple-check your girth before getting on. I recently took my horse for a hack on the beach and was so excited about going - so was he! I checked my girth once, then had to go back to the trailer for my gloves, then came back to the mounting block (a seat), put my foot in the stirrup and then felt myself sink around my horse's belly! He'd obviously puffed his belly out when I first checked his girth, but in the couple of minutes it took me to get my gloves, he'd 'shrunk'! I ended up on the deck with a bemused Thoroughbred looking down at me. Luckily, he stood still while I scrambled to my feet, otherwise he would have been off along the beach on his own! So the moral of the story? Keep checking that girth!

Re: Happy hacking!
A similar thing happened to me recently! Me and my friend had swapped horses for a bit out hacking - both our horses are totally safe- and then we were going to go for a gallop down the next lane so we swapped back but my friend hadn't tightened my mare's girth so i put my foot in and scrambled on only to come straight back down again! I don't class it as a fall though because I wasn't technically on, as I'm the only person on our yard who hasn't fallen off her, yet! x
