I wanted to write in to pay tribute to Polly - my brilliant little pony who we very sadly lost last week. She was 37 (ish) years old, and we’d had her for 25 years, ever since I was 6! We bought her as a 12 year old, but she may well have been older. She was a 12.2hh Welsh x Arab and a little superstar!
Polly and I went through Pony Club together, and entered countless shows and competitions. She taught me so much and there was nothing she wouldn’t do.
We did hacking, dressage, cross country, show jumping, showing, handy pony, endurance, hunting, driving. We went to Pony Club camp and on holiday together. She even came to the church at my wedding.
When she was 18, she gave us the greatest gift of all - a beautiful filly called Lysha, who went on to grow to an incredible 14.2hh and is still with us aged 19 and she and I are now taking part in endurance. Lysha also had a foal, Khez, who my husband rides in endurance with me.
It was such a hard decision to let Polly go, but age had caught up with her and we didn’t want to make her hang on until she was suffering and unhappy. She has left us with two beautiful horses who we wouldn’t have if it weren’t for her. She didn’t have a bad bone in her body and everyone who met her loved her - she was truly part of the family.
So this is to say thank you to Polly - one in a million, and I hope you’re happy wherever you are.

That's so amazing that you got to enjoy Polly for so many years, she must have been a true member of the family and how perfect it is that she gave you 2 horses, what a lovely story x
