Richard Stockdale?

Postby REDyke » Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:18 pm

'If he is selected, Richard Stockdale could have one of the most remarkable stories of any competitor at the entire Olympics. The 47-year-old, who finished just outside the medals at Beijing 2008, suffered a triple fracture of his neck in October but is hopeful of recovering in time to ride in London.' - Metro website

Surely you mean Tim? Typical Metro levels of fact checking here... This comes from their online article entitled 'London 2012 Olympics: Showjumping - a quick guide' and it is available on their website.

Very true, although I'd have thought simple fact checking on the part of the journalist writing it would have avoiding the problem. The two names aren't even that similar. I'd understand if they'd put 'Tom' instead of 'Tim', but 'Richard'? There aren't even any Richards on the Olympic team!

Ah but I'm sure it's easy to make an error - only human after all! :)

Very true, I suppose. Obviously my indignation as a future journalist is coming out - that and my ridiculous attention to detail!

True, everyone makes mistakes, but it's a bit embarrassing for them. It's quite a big boo boo! I wonder what Tim thought about it?!

Not as big a boo-boo as the big newspaper yesterday who did the most awful online article about dressage. They've got hundreds of equestrians peed off!
