Polo Ponies

Postby EllieAndPippa » Thu Aug 26, 2010 6:50 pm

Do you think they get worked to hard in such a short space of time and is it a dangerous sport? Opinions please. It's an ongoing discussion in my house hold and would like to know what you guys think..

They do work hard, but on the other hand they are fit and they seem able to cope with it fine. However, I do worry about how much they must get hit with the sticks, they must get some pretty horrible injures.

They do work hard however at my yard we take on about 12 polo ponies after the season has finished and they come and live out in a big herd for the whole of winter for some proper chill out time.

From my experience I'd say it depends on who they are owned by. I've really heard some horror stories about drug use and neglect, but I've also seen some very happy and healthy polo ponies.
