Pink princess ponies, is it right?

Postby pukkapony » Wed Feb 03, 2010 11:02 am

Is it right for people to do things like this to their horses? Theres comapnies in the UK that have ponies dressed up and dyed as childrens entertainment but whats the moral status of this?

My personal opinion is if the products used do no harm to the animals, and the trainers/handlers are kind and correct then if the animal enjoys itself then why not! What do other people think on this?

(my response to 'mylittleponys' post on the 'what do our usernames say about us' topic got me thinking, I just made a joke that mylittleponys ponies have flowers and butterflies painted on their bums!)

Not photoshop, there are companies (more so in USA) in the UK that offer these ponies for partys. You can hire a range of fancy dress ponies from Knights (in medievil rugs!) to dyed pink barbie ponies - as pictured.

If it's true, then it's awful. It should be illegal. Imagine if you dyed your dog pink? you'd get sent to court. Like, if you whip a dog, or spur a dog, you'll (rightfully) get locked up. but if you whip or spur a horse, no one thinks anything of it! It's so unfair!

Pink ponies? Dyed? Terrrible! Are you sure that it's not just a special paint used on ponies? Because you can get paint like that to show the parts of the pony etc.

Lovewelshies12, people do dye their dogs pink, blue all different colours! And you wouldn't get sent to court! LOL!

Anyway back to pink ponies, You know plenty of pictures that are fake are put up on the internet so the picture might not be real. But if it is, it's not any worse than dyeing another animal (And yes I do think dyeing animals is wrong) But it isn't likely that it is a true picture.
Sorry if you found this post a little cheeky!

That pony looks awesome! I don't think there is any harm in it as long as the dye is suitable for use on ponies. Afterall, they don't know they've been dyed do they? It's not like kid humiliation.

I once met a tartan sheep. There are loads of dyes used on farm animals to mark them and they aren't harmful. Why not change the colour of your pony's mane? There's a whole range of shampoo/glitter/coloured oils in one of the saddlers I visited a month ago (during a shopping spree). If the animals are well looked after then why not?

A tartan sheep! They must have spent ages painting it! I have to say, I do think painting animals is a bit weird!

I had a conversation with my friend about this last week. She's always wanted to paint a skeleton on her horse for halloween!
It's a lot like nuts and bolts –
if the rider's nuts, the horse bolts!
