Teaching my partner to trot!

Just tell him to wear 2 pairs of tight fitting boxers, i used to hate trot until i found this remedie

Well, he's ridden maybe once since I started this topic! Main problem is where he leans forwards in trot - got to make him use his balance a bit more then he'll be fine I'm sure!

My husband tried it a few times when we first met, but the novelty has definitely worn off! He didn't manage to get the hang of rising trot! He also leant forwards and kept landing on the crucials, but what I don't get is if they are that concerned about landing on them and hurting them, why lean forwards?!!! Surely one uncomfortable crunch would teach you to sit up next time?!!

Snipper - mine's the same exactly and I think that too, but I suppose we don't have to worry about leaning forwards, unlike men!

Mine tends to perch forwards, with tense thighs in contact rather than seat bones. i've been teaching a chap recently, i get him to stretch around the horse, heels to butt cheeks and push knees down, then knees touching above the pommel. he has so far walked and trotted without stirrups. he has a lovely sitting trot, although he doesn't find it too comfortable. we have been focusing on his seat and staying with the pony's movement instead of controling the pony so far. his rising trot is a bit extravagant, another beginniner/chap thing? but he is doing pretty well so far.
