In the February issue of Horse&Rider, we look at how you can stay safe on the roads this winter.

Do you have any tips on how to stay safe on today's busy roads?

Its usually a good idea to avoid going on the road alone even if you dont have another horse have someone walk with you because if somethings happens eg your horse spooks and you get thrown and are knocked out your horse will be loose on the road plus you are at risk of being run over or injured further. If you are knocked out who will call for help?

Another thing if there is two of you make sure you BOTH carry a mobile phone with you in case of an emergancy as when i had my accident i came off and was knocked unconscious but although i had some one with me i wasd the one with the mobile ans was laying face down unconscious so not alot of good!
