An Olympic legacy for equestrians?

We did so well at the Olympics I am hoping that the governing bodies are able to take the momentum created and run with it. I feel pretty sure that they won't though.
Am I being pessimistic or are the governing bodies in equestrian sports archaic, stagnant and in need of a serious revamp with regards to their board members and policies?
I appreciate there are some good people in the politics of our sport trying to modernise things but I do think the large majority are part of the 'old boys club' from the school of 'how we've always done things' and merely in it for personal benefit.
