If you’re looking for a high-energy competition horse, this isn’t the one. But if you want a sturdy, safe, and incredibly lazy cob who would rather stop and smell the roses (or eat them), then read on! He is not a child’s pony, suit confident rider.

The Basics:
• 14.2hh traditional cob, built like a tank
• Bombproof in traffic – probably because he can’t be bothered to spook
• Perfect for slow hacking, low-level schooling, and lots of standing around
• Will pop a small jump, but don’t expect enthusiasm
• Good to catch, shoe, but doesn’t load, with perseverance you could succeed

The Reality:
• Forward-going? Not a chance. You’ll need legs of steel or a good schooling whip.
• Fitness is a concept he doesn’t fully understand. He’d rather conserve energy.
• Lives for food – your snacks are his snacks.
• Not a fan of schooling but will oblige if bribed.
