16hh 5 year old grey Irish Draught gelding

Overview

This is a very sad and honest sale of my beautiful boy Dom. I’ve owned him from a 4yo and he is turning 6 this month. He has been slowly and carefully produced and allowed the time to mature. He’s now looking to further his education.
He has done a handful of days trail hunting. He’s jumped hedges, rails, drains and ditches.
He has 3 lovely paces and is lightly schooled in all 3 disciplines (at home and out and about) and has also competed in unaffiliated xc pairs where he was happy to go both in front and behind. He has attended fun rides and he’s also worked with a professional horsemanship trainer for a few months whilst I have been out of the saddle which has really developed his ground work and helped to teach him patience and understanding of tasks you ask him to do.
He will hack out alone or in company and is snaffle mouthed. He’s good to shoe, load (sometimes hesitates for a moment but then always goes in), catch and clip (only been clipped twice and it took about 5 mins to get him used to the sound of the clipper both times and then he was fine). Travels well in a lorry or a trailer.
He is an incredibly loving, kind and genuine type. Very cuddly and just loves to be around you. I think he would make a fabulous working hunter or event type as he just loves his jumping.
It’s a very sad sale but I don’t have the time and he has so much more potential to give. I unfortunately can’t do the work with him as I’m expecting a baby, otherwise I would keep him.
These are his golden years 💫 and I don’t want him to miss out.
I’d like him to go to someone kind, competent, patient and knowledgable of the breed who would like to progress with him, give him lots of love and turn him into the superstar I know he will be.
