These are pictures of Malli taken before we used the Nettex Gut Balancer (top) and one taken after (bottom). I found the Gut Balancer to be absolutely amazing. Before we used it she was very hard to keep weight on her droppings were very easy to disintegrate. She was a very stressy ex racehorse who reared and spun round when she was asked to do something out of her routine. I have been amazed at the results so far. We have been using the Gut Balancer for nearly 3 months now but i put her on 2 scoop morning feed and 2 scoop in night feed. She is so much easier to handle now. I feel i have a different horse. I would recommend this supplement to anyone. My friend is also using it on her mare who weaved severely. It hasn’t stopped her altogether yet but has reduced it substantially.

Having a horse on box rest as I did, it is paramount that the gut remains in a healthy working order to prevent impactions and the dreaded colic. The Gut Balancer was introduced after a few days of box rest, when a noticeably reduced amount of gut function was clearly beginning, even though feed was kept to a minimum and ad lib good quality hay was provided. After just 24hrs on the Gut Balancer, the droppings returned to their usual colour and frequency, and Maisie appeared noticeably happier. The Gut balancer is also very palatable, unlike some gut balancers.

I have already trialled the gut balancer previously on another horse, see my blog about that here. I chose it again for a few reasons, Rocky never got to try it, so a second review would give a credible report, the spring grass has come through and associated loose droppings are always a worry and his body is going to go through periods of stress as he adjusts to working life. I was impressed by the gut balancer previously, but this time it was tested in a different way. As the spring grass comes through, there is always the risk of very loose droppings, therefore a risk of colic, and for the first time i have had just one horse to graze a large area of pasture! I am lucky that i can section my field off with electric, however due to the extreme wet weather over winter, that was not immediately possible, so rocky had over 2 acres of lush grazing all to himself! I added the suggested amount of gut balancer to his feed and hoped it would work, need i have worried? Absolutely not! So far this spring, I have yet to find a loose dropping in the field, stable or while working., meaning his guts are working properly and he is happy inside. After the initial loading dose, i reduced the amount to the everyday rate (1 scoop) and it has been amazing. During his introduction to working life, he is naturally under stress, which can also lead to droppings which are abnormal. Since he began working, rocky has shown no signs of the “stress” poo, often occurring when horses are under stress. I am over the moon with how effective the gut balancer is, and having tested it twice now, i feel justified in my review!

GUT BALANCER – this is something I will always use on all my horses in the future. Having previously been a sceptic about supplements, this one has changed my mind! One of my horses had a change in performance which was really out of character, after consulting my vets and running some bloods it was decided the horse may have been suffering from low grade ulcers. He had a short course of prescription medication from the vet which seemed to work for him, I then introduced the GUT BALANCER to his feed and we never had a reoccurrence of the situation. All my horses now get this as part of their regular feed.

Gut Balancer

I trialed the Gut Balancer for a 7 year old Welsh section D mare Caitlin. I always thought Caitlin had a bit of an upset gut as her droppings are always very loose and can be qutie a stressy mare. Also, Caitlin has a habbit of sucking her tounge for a unknown reason. Since using the Gut Balancer her droppings are more of a normal shape and she has really cut down on the amount of times she sucks her tounge and rarely does it at all now, so I have bought a big tub of it to keep it a permanent part of her diet.

I am writing to you all after speaking to your lovely representatives at the royal Welsh Show a couple of weeks ago. I have owned Pip, my 15.2hh, 5yo Part bred welsh since a yearling. She came out of the last winter looking a little poor despite the amount of food I was shoveling into her, her attitude sucked and she’d lost her spark, and she wasn’t a happy bunny! My instructor couldn’t believe the horse stood in front of her was the same horse eating as much as she was and she suggested I try a balancer. My Local Saddlers, Romsey Saddlery, suggested Nettex ‘Gut Balancer’ and we haven’t looked back! Within two weeks she had a shine back in her coat and was starting to gain weight and muscle again, she was feeling much better and was much happier again. Since then we have moved yards and is now on a different feed but she still remains happy and in good spirits, and looks and feels Fabulous!

I’ve been using the gut balancer for 5 days now and the improvements are amazing! My horse has been having loose dropping quite frequently and a stomach ache and it’s cleared it right up and his droppings are back to normal ! He also gets gas colic a lot and he hasn’t had anything so far !! 😊 the results are FAB !!
