Blue Cross asks owners to help with fireworks survey

Posted in News

Give charity Blue Cross a helping hand by filling out their online survey regarding the impact fireworks had on your horse

The Blue Cross is appealing to horse owners across the UK to fill out its survey on the impact fireworks have on horses. With public displays off the cards this year, bonfire night saw many people choosing to host their own demonstrations in their gardens or private fields. With the rise of personal displays in the lead up to New Year’s Eve, the Blue Cross is concerned about the detrimental effects that fireworks have on our horses and pets.

In order to gain more insight into how different animals are affected by fireworks, the charity has set up a survey. Fill it out by the 10 December to help the Blue Cross get to grips with the effects of firework displays on the UK’s animals.

Kerry Taylor, Education Manager at Blue Cross, said: “In these changing times it’s important to understand the existing concerns horse owners have around fireworks season and the impact these celebrations can have on their animals. Horses have a natural and innate flight response, and we know some fare badly when local fireworks are set off. So, we’re hoping to understand the national picture in greater detail.”
