The FEI Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials is set to return from 11-13 April 2025, promising top-class competition in the heart of North Norfolk. A well-established highlight of the spring eventing calendar, Burnham Market has attracted some of the world’s best riders since its inception at Sussex Farm in 1999.
With its challenging courses designed by Alec Lochore, the event has long been a key fixture for riders preparing for major championships. Over the years, World, European, and Olympic medallists have used Burnham Market to sharpen their form ahead of major international competitions. The undulating terrain and technical questions posed by Lochore’s cross-country course provide an ideal early-season test.
Spectators can look forward to thrilling action from some of the sport’s biggest names, with the natural amphitheatre of the showjumping arena offering excellent viewing, or fantastic views out cross-country to watch the competition unfold.
Beyond the equestrian action, Burnham Market offers a full day out for visitors. The shopping village is a firm favourite, with a diverse mix of retailers selling everything from luxury footwear to saddlery. Food and drink options will be plentiful, with local produce and refreshments available, including the ever-popular Barefoot Retreats Gin bar.
For families, the event boasts a range of entertainment, including falconry displays, terrier racing, Grays Funfair, and the Woolly Warriors. Situated just a short distance from Norfolk’s spectacular coastline, spectators can round off their day with a beach walk and fresh seafood from local eateries.
Gates open at 8am each morning, with competition starting at 9am on Friday and Saturday, and 8am on Sunday. Tickets are available for purchase online and at the gate, with a special Valentine’s Day offer providing 15% off general admission until 16 February when booking via the Musketeer website (musketeer.co.uk) using the code BMMYVAL2025.
Saturday and Sunday’s action will be streamed live via H&C+, allowing fans to follow the competition on their mobile, tablet, TV, or desktop. More details can be found on the Horse & Country website – horseandcountry.tv
