Cost-of-living-crisis-survey

With only one week until the survey’s closing date, now’s the time to have your say on the effect of the cost-of-living crisis

The cost-of-living crisis is at the forefront of many people’s minds each and every day, and there’s no doubt it’s affecting the equestrian world, too. But how? That’s exactly what the research conducted by a group of equine charities and led by the National Equine Welfare Council (NEWC) is aiming to find out.

The survey looks into how the cost-of-living crisis is affecting horse owners and carers. Carolyn Madgwick, Chair of the NEWC, said: “The questions being asked include things like ‘what changes, if any, have you seen in horse care costs in the last year?’ and ‘what changes have you made, or are considering, to save money?”

The survey has already had more than 7,000 responses and the NEWC is encouraging as many people as possible to take part so it can understand how to help horse owners in this challenging time. Carolyn continued: “We want to establish how those of us who care for horse are dealing with the current economic climate. The NEWC intends to use the anonymised results to produce a report which will be shared with the public and, where relevant, the UK Government, Devolved Administrations and local authorities and will enable us to develop and publish guidance and advice to support those caring for horses across the UK.”

The survey is anonymous. Whether you’re coping well or really feeling the pinch, your experience and opinion matter, so don’t miss the chance to have your say.
