Crowd favourite Christmas tradition moves online

Join The Donkey Sanctuary for its popular Christmas service and give your festive period a little extra sparkle

While the charity’s usual Christmas service unable to go ahead, The Donkey Sanctuary intend to instead run Carols by Candlelight as a virtual event on Friday 11 December. Gather – virtually, of course – with family and friends to make the most of the festive season. The event will include carols and readings galore, with guest appearances from many of the charity’s resident donkeys.

The event will form part of Sanctuary From your Sofa, an award-winning series of events that’s hosted by the charity’s headquarters in Sidmouth, Devon and can be watched via The Donkey Sanctuary website or social media pages. The series has been running throughout the year to support the charity through its closure, so there’s plenty of cute content to catch up on!

James Searle, Head of Commercial Activities at The Donkey Sanctuary, said: “We know lots of community carol services and school nativities have had to be cancelled because of the Covid-19 restrictions, so it was important to us that we continued with Carols by Candlelight, albeit virtually. Whatever your religion or beliefs, we hope that family and friends will come together online and enjoy this magical service at home.”
