Badminton Piggy French 2020

Set to enter a remarkable eighth decade, Badminton Horse Trials, this year running 6–10 May, is opening its Box Office for advance tickets on Monday 13 January, offering plenty of discounts for early booking.

Recently rated the ‘Best Event Award – outdoor eventing’ by the prestigious L’Année Hippique, Badminton Horse Trials began in 1949 as a preparation event for the Olympic Games. Just as in 1949, with 2020 being an Olympic year, there’s sure to be a hugely competitive field of riders from across the globe who are vying for a spot on their country’s team. This year, it also coincides with commemorations for the 75th anniversary of VE day on Friday 8 May.

Visitors attending the horse trials on Wednesday will be able to book into the Weatherbys Hamilton members enclosure for the first time ever, and Thursday will bring with it a showcase of all equestrian Olympic disciplines, including a parade of the horses at the top of their game in the fields of dressage, showjumping and eventing.

Event Director, Jane Tuckwell, said, “2020 is going to be an exciting year with a number of new traffic and sustainability initiatives, which we hope will enhance the visitor experience. We are really looking forward to working with our new Official Event Partners, Science Supplements and Mars Equestrian, and securing further partners as the year goes on.”

Badminton Horse Trials will kick off with the popular grassroots amateur cup, now sponsored by Science Supplements, which runs on the 5–6 May, and a highlight in all amateur event riders’ seasons.
