Enjoy a donkey day out on Easter Sunday

Join The Donkey Sanctuary for a fun-filled Easter Sunday and catch up with your favourite rescued equines

Sunday 4 April will see the return of The Donkey Sanctuary’s Sanctuary From Your Sofa event, which will allow you to catch up with the charity’s four-legged residents from the comfort of your own home. You’ll be able to tune in to the live broadcasts from 10am.

This year, Easter Sunday even coincides with International Carrot Day – a happy coincidence for the donkeys at the charity’s base in Sidmouth, Devon. In 2020 the event won Best Audience Engagement Campaign at 2020 UK Social Media Awards, and this year’s instalment is sure to be just as fun-filled.

Maxine Carter, Farm Manager at The Donkey Sanctuary Sidmouth, said: “Last year’s events reached more than one million people across the world, so we’re really excited to bring the virtual event back for all those people who are missing their ‘donkey fix’.

“Easter Sunday’s event will feature all of the charity’s 22 adoption donkeys from across the UK and, as the day falls on International Carrot Day, our fluffy friends can expect a few crunchy treats and surprises throughout the day in the form of enrichment activities.”

Highlights from the virtual event will include spotting the difference between a donkey and a mule, learning all about how to look after donkeys and their behaviours, as well as hearing about the incredible bonds they form with humans and other donkeys.
