14.1hh Cob mare – hack/jump

Overview

My lovely girl is sadly looking for a loving home due to my increasing work commitments. She forms a very strong bond with her handler and loves to hack out or jump.

She is a forward-going ride so would suit a confident teenager or adult – with an experienced rider she will make a great all round riding pony. We mainly hack out alone but we have hacked in company with adults and children alike. She is great in traffic and around dogs (I often take mine with us) – her only anxiety out hacking alone is if you come across the hunt (which might not be an issue in your area!) She loves to pop a log out hacking or to jump any combination you may set up in a menage. I have never taken her out to compete but I am sure she would excel at this with the right owner.

She is excellent with the farrier and the vet – she had her annual Flu booster and dentistry in July 2022. She has always been unshod and gets a trim every 6-8 weeks. Overall a very low maintenance mare – she lives out 24/7, doesn’t require a rug (although I choose to selfishly rug her during wet/muddy times to reduce brushing time), and just needs some hay/balancer feed over winter. Due to her type, she can be prone to feather mites – if this occurs, clipping her feathers and using the medicated shampoo works. She prefers to live with mares but has lived with geldings.

She is NOT a childs or novice ride as she can be strong and will sometimes be mare-ish when asked to canter (on occassion, she may lowly kick out with her back legs first before respecting the request. This has been assessed by my jumping instructor, saddle fitter and horse masseuse and is not due to any pain or discomfort… just mare-ishness!)

She hasn’t been ridden much for a year now and it isn’t fair on her when she loves it and is capable of so much, thus the reluctant sale. She needs a confident rider, so please only enquire if you are. I have owned her for five years and brought her on from a green newly-broken horse that didn’t trust people to a sweet, affectionate, outgoing horse. I will happily provide all of her fitted tack and rugs.
