Overview
Biggles is a very cheeky character with lots of love to give. On the ground he is very well mannered, as he’s often done by my nan and grandad. You won’t find a more affectionate horse, he loves being brushed, scratched, and given attention.
In the past, Biggles has trained at Advanced and competed unaffiliated dressage at medium. He is very well schooled and knows his job, however he needs a competent and confident rider. He is a typical warmblood, and does have a buck/bronc in him. He does not suffer fools, and makes his opinion known. For these reasons he is strictly NO novices or nervous riders… flying air Biggles will quickly put you off…
He loves hacking and exploring new places. I have hacked him everywhere; main roads, country lanes, bridleways and everywhere in between by himself. He can be spooky but it’s never been bad enough to bother me.
He loves to jump, go XC, and fun rides, he is always mannerly and more importantly VERY bold.
When he was in full work he has been to the under 25 championships at Sheepgate, where he would have been very successful if I had remembered to drop my whip… He did a lot with BYRDS and has been to stay away shows such as Equifest.
He’s a smart boy and has picked up a few tricks… he smiles, gives hugs, and lifts his hooves on command. He enjoys learning new things and excels at being challenged both in and out of the saddle.
He travels in a horsebox perfectly, but will not go in a trailer.
He has had issues with his stifles, which is managed effectively, which I will discuss fully with interested people. Due to this, his work load can not be too high.
I would be happy for someone to compete him again, once he is fit enough, at elementary dressage and low level eventing if this is something that you are interested in. He would also make a lovely show horse. He has had most of the winter off so will take some time to build his strength/fitness back up.
He’s a horse with all the presence he needs for competition, he knows he’s stunning and loves to show off!
I am looking for someone who will love him as their own on their days and give him all the attention he deserves. Please do not apply if you are only looking to spend time with him in the saddle.
You MUST be a kind and sympathetic rider with soft hands. You will not be well suited if you loose your patience easily. Preferably a rider with an understanding of classical dressage.
References and riding videos will be required. Must be willing to have regular lessons on him.
He is available for 2 days a week, with a small financial contribution required. I work shifts so I am very flexible on these days, I’m also happy for you to come up more than 2 days a week if you want to.
He’s a very unique horse and will give his whole heart to the right person. It’s very important that you’re willing to build a bond with him.
He is to stay on his current yard in Runcorn for the time being.
Please message for any further details.. I might not reply instantly due to work commitments but I will get back to you as soon as I can!
