Public invited to take part in The Donkey Sanctuary’s exciting new research

The Donkey Sanctuary invites the public to take part in a study to help them better understand the publics’ perception of donkeys

This exciting new research project, led by The Donkey Sanctuary, aims to help the charity learn more about public perception of donkeys. With the help of activities and discussions surrounding the use of language in popular media, the project hopes to find out more about how donkeys are represented by the British media.

The Donkey Sanctuary has nearly 7,000 donkeys and mules in its care, so research like this is essential to help ensure the charity is able to reach those in need. Members of the public taking part in this study will be making an invaluable contribution to the collective knowledge of donkeys and the issues affecting them.

The Senior Researcher at The Donkey Sanctuary, Dr Cara Clancy, who’s leading the research project said: “This is a great opportunity to learn more about people’s views of donkeys and how everyday language can affect their welfare. We look forward to hearing from anyone in the UK who wants to take part in our online focus groups.”

The project’s open to anyone over the age of 18 and will provide the opportunity for people to join one of the various focus groups that will collect information on specific topics. Contributions will remain anonymous and may be used in future conference papers and publications. The information gathered will help develop The Donkey Sanctuary’s understanding of donkeys’ social status in the UK.
