Le-Chameau-Vierzonord-TNT
RRP
£200

Le Chameau Women’s Vierzonord

Warm neoprene lined boots with an adjustable, waterproof gusset and an anti-fatigue footbed.

We say…

Offered a shoe-like fit making them easy to get on but a little harder to get off – useful in thick mud, though, when they also offer excellent grip. May be a tight fit for wider feet. The adjustable calf was great for tucking in waterproofs and stopping bedding from falling into them. Kept feet toasty. Have been used for long distance walking and on the yard and they’re showing no abnormal signs of wear. The tread offered secure footing even on wet surfaces. Easy to hose off and clean.

Ariat-Burford-Insulated-Zip-TNT
RRP
£200

Ariat Women’s Burford Insulated Zip

Waterproof, insulated boots with a full-length zip. Shock absorbing footbed, moisture-wicking, neoprene lining.

We say…

Smart looking boots with a snug fit that became comfortable after a few wears. Good height that didn’t catch on the back of the knees. The full-length side zip was great for getting the boots on and off. Didn’t leak. The sturdy top popper prevented the zip coming undone and has stood up well to regular use. Cushioned footbed is great for long days on your feet. The tread offered superb grip in all weathers. More expensive than I’d usually go for, but they have great features and keep your feet warm and dry, so warrant the price tag.

Aigle-Parcours-2-TNT
RRP
£149.98

Aigle Parcours 2

Anti-fatigue boots with tri-density rubber sole, shock absorbing cushioning and a tailored fit around the ankle.

We say…

Light and flexible, they offered a great fit despite not being adjustable. Provided plenty of support. Really impressed with the warmth as I usually suffer with cold feet. The footbed was so comfy and springy, great for long-distance walking and prolonged use. They grip well in muddy conditions and the heel feels solid and balanced. Showing no signs of wear. Easy to slip on but can be harder to get off. Well worth the money if you’re planning on wearing them regularly for long periods of time and suffer from the cold.

£130

The Original Muck Boot Company Women’s Chore Classic tall

Comfy boots with a supportive fit around the ankle, which prevented them from pulling off in the mud. Very robust around the heel and toe. True to size fit. Bulkier than some boots but provided warmth and protection. The tread provided decent traction and reduced slipping. Great for tough, outdoor jobs with a cushioned footbed that meant you could wear them all day. A good length in the leg and the top collar stopped the worst of the bedding and hay falling into the boots. Easy to clean.

Kept feet really warm – if you suffer from cold feet these will really help you out in freezing temperatures. We say…

Comfortable boots even after long periods. Didn’t need wearing in. Easy to get on and off. Shorter in height than some but still offered protection from the wet and mud, although would’ve preferred a taller boot for carrying out yard jobs. There are some small signs of wear to the tread but overall they’ve stood up well to mucking out and long-distance walking/ They were quite warm, which made them more suitable to colder temperatures. Simple to clean, you can wash off the rubber boots and brush over the neoprene upper.

RRP
£468

Alberto Fasciani 33202

Glossy calfskin with a stretch elastic panel, square toe and ornamental logo.

Available in 132set height and width combinations

“If you want a touch of pizazz in your wardrobe, these are the boots for you. Sizing runs slim and quite tall, and I spent time breaking them in properly so they’d stay snug once softened. This was worth it, though – they’ve remained fitted around the ankle, but are still flexible. The grippy stretch panel aids fit and is useful in the rain. They started out gorgeous but, with appropriate care, their appearance is actually improving over time. They’re definitely an investment, but one that doesn’t scrimp on quality or style.”

De Niro Salentino Lucido long competition boots
RRP
£299

De Niro Salentino Lucido

Calfskin leather with a patent top, subtle elastic panel and grey stitching.

Available 35 set height and width combinations

“I love these boots. They’re  extremely comfortable and quickly moulded to my feet. They fitted well from the start and only needed a couple of wears to break in. Combined with the soft leather, this meant they never rubbed or made me sore, even if I wore them all day. The details and fastenings are still in perfect condition, although the leather has creased slightly at the ankle. I think they’re super-smart and striking – I often received compliments when out and about. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase them again.”

£299

Mountain Horse Sovereign High Rider

Soft, premium leather with a shock-absorbing insole and hidden elastic panel.

Available in a range of widths narrow – wide, and a range of heights short – tall.

“These boots are so comfy and fitted my long legs perfectly. They’re true to size but, due to their figure-hugging fit, took three rides to break in. I wore them on the yard before and after riding, even in winter, but they’ve withstood this well and come up as good as new after cleaning. They’ve maintained their shape, helped by the fact that they come with boot trees and a bag. For the price tag, you can’t beat them – they’re brilliant and I’d invest in another pair in the future.”

RRP
£270

Ariat Heritage Contour II Field Zip

Available in a range of widths extra slim – wide, and a range of heights short – tall.

“These boots are sleek and stylish. They fitted well and were comfortable from the get-go, although I needed a narrower width than the size chart suggested. The fit around my leg has stayed snug and the ankles haven’t significantly dropped. I could wear them happily all day on the yard and in the saddle, and was even able to drive in them. I’d have preferred them to be a bit more water-resistant, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy them again in the future – not that I think they’ll need replacing any time soon, as they still clean up as good as new!”

Brogini Sanremo Field long competition boots
RRP
£245

Brogini Sanremo Field

Soft-grained leather, with a stitched toecap, elasticated panel and patent croc-effect details.

Available in a range of widths 000 – 4, and a range of heights short – tall.

“These boots were comfortable to walk and ride in, and I felt I had a close contact with my horse. They didn’t require a breaking in period, as the leather is so soft, and maintained their shape really well with boot trees. The zip at the back seems quite sturdy, and the poppers and laces are still in good condition. The height and foot size of the boots are perfect, but the calf width came up a little bigger then expected. They’re lovely boots and everyone has commented how smart they look.”

£239.99

Tredstep Donatello SQ Field

Made from full-grain nappa leather, with a leather lining, high-impact footbed, stretch panel and anti-fatigue sole.

Available in a range of widths extra slim – full, and heights regular or tall

“My favourite thing about these boots is how comfortable yet elegant they are, setting them apart from most others I’ve worn. The cushioned footbed makes them almost as comfy as trainers to wear all day, while the supple leather gives them a slim, smart fit. They required no breaking in, but did drop after a few weeks, leaving them with more bulk around the ankles. I like the zip covers, which keep the zip clean. Overall I think they strike a great balance between comfort, style and value.”

Felix Bühler Milano Field long competition boots
RRP
£229

Available in a range of widths extra slim – wide, and regular or high heights.

“These boots were comfortable from day one – in fact, they’ve ruined me for anything else! I wore them for riding and general yard duties without any problems. They only needed a quick wipe-over to look great, even after being covered in mud. I’m usually between short and regular length, but as these boots were so soft I could take the regular length, meaning they were perfect after they dropped slightly. For the price, I think they’re great and would recommend them without hesitation.”

Mark Todd Competition Field boots
RRP
£217.99

Mark Todd Competition Field

Soft, quality leather with a discreet elastic panel, zip guard and slimline sole.

Available in a range of widths slim – wide, and short or standard heights.

“These boots were comfortable for riding and I could walk in them straight away without any rubbing. I like that they’re lightweight, and they don’t interfere with my leg contact or feel bulky in the stirrup. The elastic panel makes them easy to put on and ensures they move with you as your leg bends. Through regular wear and cleaning, the leather has become lovely and soft and, while there are a few wrinkles at the ankle, it hasn’t stretched or sagged. They still look super-smart, especially after a polish.”

Dublin Galtymore Tall Field competition boots
RRP
£214.99

Dublin Galtymore Tall Field

Full-grain leather with an elasticated panel and wicking sock liner.

Available in regular or wide widths and short or regular heights.

“I usually struggle to find long boots in my size, but these fit really well. The supple leather meant I could put them on and ride without the need to break them in. They’re comfy to ride in and helped to encourage a better ankle position, but I could still walk around the yard and at shows. They polished up really well, looking like new in no time. They’ve wrinkled slightly down the leg, but this hasn’t affected their use and they still look smart. I’m really pleased with these boots and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another pair.”

Caldene Casoria long competition boots
RRP
£175

Caldene Casoria

Featuring a suede inner calf, full-length zip and decorative elasticated laces.

“I was able to ride in the boots straight away because they’re so supple, and the suede helped to keep my lower leg still, too. Unfortunately, they rubbed where the upper meets the foot section, and it was a few weeks before I was truly comfortable walking in them. The soft leather fits snugly around your leg, but the lack of a leather lining means they need boot trees to keep their shape. The leather polishes up well, while a suede brush tidies up the calves. For the price, they’re a budget boot that looks the part.”

Just Togs Buckingham long competition boots
RRP
£169.99

Just Togs Buckingham

Soft, grained leather with decorative laces, a zip guard and stitched toecaps.

Available in a range of widths, medium narrow – wide

“These boots were very comfortable for riding or wearing around the yard, although they took a week or two of regular wear to break in due to their close fit. They looked smart and stylish, and I found they were easy to keep clean. Although the poppers on the zip guards could occasionally come undone, this didn’t get in the way or affect how well I could use my leg while riding. Overall, I think they’re practical, entry-level leather boots that perform well, and I feel the price is very reasonable.”

Horseware Ireland Long Leather Riding competition boots
RRP
£154.95

Horseware Ireland Long Leather Riding

Made from quality, soft leather, with a dress lace front, durable sole, elasticated panel and zip guard.

Available in regular or wide widths

“The boots coped well with wet, muddy yard duties and, as they’re comfortable and very lightweight, I was able to walk freely in them all day. However, they took a few wears to break in. They helped keep my leg secure, but without the stiffness you can get with some brands. The zip is sturdy and they’ve kept their shape well. A quick wipe-over was enough to get them looking their best, even if they’d been wet and dirty all day. They’re tough boots with no marks on them after a hard test.”

Shires Moretta Gianna long competition boots
RRP
£119.99

Shires Moretta Gianna

Mock lace details, anti-fatigue soles, shock-absorbing insoles and a wicking lining.

Available in a range of widths from slim – wide

“I liked the style of these boots and the soft leather didn’t restrict my calf like some others have done. They were a great fit, but took a week to break in around the ankles, as they could rub a bit. Once I’d worn them a couple of times, though, they were really comfy. As well as schooling, they looked the part at competitions and held up to walking around the showground all day. They were easy to keep clean, with robust fastenings and tough soles. For the price, they’re smart, versatile boots.”

Fouganza LB 560 long competition boots
RRP
£79.99

Fouganza LB 560

Supple leather, with a wide elastic band at the calf, full-length zip, spur guards and a stitched sole.

Available in 2 set height and width combinations

“The boots were comfortable from the minute I put them on. They were great for riding and walking around the yard – you’d hardly know you had riding boots on. They’ve maintained their shape and were easy to clean with regular boot polish. The zip ran smoothly, and they were easy to put on and take off. It’s worth trying them on before purchasing, as there are limited height and width options, and I found the ankle quite generous. Overall they’re a comfortable boot for a very reasonable price.”

“They were very warm, easy to keep clean and stood up well to lots of use. I wore a size smaller than usual and the soles could have been thicker, but the touch-tape straps stayed secure and made the boots easy to put on.”

The verdict: Ideal as an entry-level boot for typical chores around the yard.

HKM London Thermo Stable

Waterproof to the ankle, these boots have a non-slip sole and fluffy fur lining.

Sizes: 36–42

The verdict: Warm and hard-wearing, perfect for yard visits on chilly days.

“The fluffy lining meant they were really cosy. However, even with the laces done right up, they were quite loose at the top. They’re good value and kept my feet perfectly dry.”

The verdict: Tough, cosy boots that are fully prepared to take on wet, muddy conditions.

The verdict: Smart, all-weather boots that do as well in the saddle as they do on the yard.

Sizes: 3–9

The verdict: A warm, comfortable option for people with narrower feet.

“My feet were toasty warm, even in the snow, and they were comfortable for riding and walking. The opening is quite snug, so they’re probably best suited to people with narrow feet. Overall, I found they were hard-wearing, practical all-in-one boots.”

Tuffa Fjord
RRP
£99.99

Tuffa Fjord

Waterproof leather jodhpur boots with an antibacterial, breathable lining.

Sizes: 4–12

The verdict: Durable and practical, ideal for taking you from the yard to the saddle.

“My feet stayed warm and dry, and I found them easy to slip on and off. The sizing was generous, but fine with thick socks, and I really liked that I could do yard chores, then ride my horse. They still look great and are definitely built to last.”

Muck Boot Wear
RRP
£70

Muck Boot Wear

Durable rubber boots with a wide-cut heel base and Achilles reinforcement.

Sizes: 37–47

The verdict: Heavy-duty boots that are perfect if you suffer from frozen feet.

“These boots were so warm and breathable. The wide opening meant they were easy to slip on and off, but debris got inside. The chunky design made them quite heavy, but they were still really comfy.”

Toggie Kodiac
RRP
£57.50

Toggi Kodiac

Leather jodhpur boots with steel toe caps, anti-skid rubber soles and a breathable lining.

Sizes: 36–45

The verdict: Sturdy boots with protection as their primary function.

“They were great quality and really sturdy – my feet felt safe around my fidgety horse. They took a while to break in, but once they did they were really comfy. The sizing was generous, but this meant I could wear extra socks in cold weather.”

Steeds-Cross-Rider
RRP
£49.90

Steeds Cross Rider

Waterproof boots with a soft footbed, breathable lining, and reinforced toes and heels.

Sizes: 3–10.5

The verdict: Perfect for keeping you comfortable if you spend a lot of time on your feet.

“These boots were comfortable and kept my feet dry. I wore them for poo-picking and lots of walking, but didn’t like the fact my chaps didn’t fit over them for riding. The laces weren’t the quickest to do up, but stayed secure.”

Lakeland-Fur-Nite-rider
RRP
£65.00

Lakeland Fur Nite-Rider boots

Features A waterproof, fur-lined boot with adjustable, reflective straps and a metal shank sole support
Sizes 3–10

“These boots were very comfortable right from the start and I liked that the adjustable straps on the calf made the boots easy to fit. They have a thick sole with good grip, so I felt confident walking through muddy fields. They kept my feet warm and dry, and that’s the most important thing for me on the yard during winter. They’re great as a practical yard boot, but don’t look particularly stylish!”

Hunter-Balmoral-Boots
RRP
£120

Hunter Field Balmoral wellington boots

An adjustable boot with a breathable, mesh neoprene lining, reflective panels on the back and a reinforced metal shank in the sole for riding.
Colours: Black or dark iris
Sizes: 3–9

“I was very pleased with the quality of these wellies. I’ve worn them every day and they aren’t showing any signs of wear. I drove in them, too, which I’ve found often causes splits where the toes bend, but had no problem with these boots. I liked the adjustable sides as I could let them out to fit bulkier trousers. The sole was comfortable from the start, with a good grip, and I didn’t need a wearing-in period. They cleaned up easily and are completely waterproof. They are quite tall – I am 5ft 7in and felt the fit would be better if they were a few centimetres shorter in the leg.”

spanish-boot-company-polo-boot
RRP
£305.00

The Spanish Boot Company polo boot

A quality Spanish leather boot with a welted leather sole.
Colours: Black, tan, navy or chocolate brown
Sizes: 2.5–12

“I loved these boots! They are so stylish and comfortable, and I had lots of nice comments when I was wearing them. They fitted really well from the start, without causing any rubs or discomfort. The leather is excellent quality and they are beautifully made. I wore them a lot, both for riding and with casual wear at events and competitions. The zip was strong and sturdy, and did up easily, and the popper at the top kept it secure, which was great when I was using them for riding. Although the price of these boots is high, I would still recommend them as they’re so versatile.”

sporting-hares-ascot-boots
RRP
£40.00

Sporting Hares Ascot boot

Luxury wellingtons handmade from natural rubber with a cushioned sole.
Colours: Cherry red or electric blue
Sizes: 4–8

“These boots were very comfortable to wear and didn’t rub my feet at all. I mainly used them on the yard and for walking my dogs in the rain, as they had good grip in the wet. They’re pretty stylish for wellingtons, so I was happy to wear them if I needed to pop into town after being at the yard – after giving them a quick wash down with the hose they looked as good as new. They are made of good-quality materials, so they are brilliant value for money. Personally, I loved the electric blue colour, but it might not be the first choice for everyone.”

RRP
£89.00

Just Togs Monterey boots

Leather upper, waterproof, breathable lining, comfort support insole, steel shank and anti-skid rubber sole

Sizes: 4–8

“I love these boots. They look stylish and are incredibly comfortable with no wearing-in required. I wore them on muddy, wet walks, and they had really good grip and kept my feet dry. The lining worked well and stopped my feet from getting too hot. They cleaned up well and without too much effort. I found them a bit loose round the ankle for riding, but they were fine for general hacking. Overall, I thought they were great boots and extremely good value for money. They came up a little big, but it wasn’t too much of a problem.”

RRP
£134.99

Shires Charbury boots

“I thought the boots were true to size, and the footbed was very comfy and felt supportive. They’re completely waterproof, still look smart, are easy to wipe clean and the lining is still in place. Because they’re not tight around the foot or ankle, I only used them for leisurely hacking, but they’re great to wear around the yard. Overall, I think they’re a great yard boot, but I found them difficult to break in. The heel and ankle rubbed, and they were quite rigid around the calf. However, the leather has softened and I’m glad I persevered with them as they’re now extremely comfy!”

Weatherproof, breathable fabric lining, cushioned insoles, rubber stirrup-safe grip soles and tie tops

Sizes: 35–45, standard or wide

RRP
£140

Bogs Alexandria boots

Four-way stretch inner bootie, DuraFresh lining, soft leather footbed with shock-absorbing cushion and slip-resistant rubber outsole

Sizes: 38–45 with half sizes

“The boots were true to size and very comfy from day one. Because of the zip and handles, they’re very easy to pull on and off. I was pleased that they kept my feet dry on rainy days, but they aren’t totally waterproof because of the zip. They were fantastic for yard work, had good grip in the mud and kept my feet comfortable all day. In warmer weather, I found them to be breathable. I also really like that they’re smart enough to wear away from the yard. I wasn’t sure about the style to begin with, but the comfort and quality is excellent.”

RRP
£110

Brogini Ruscello boots

An adjustable front drawstring, waterproof membrane, combination of grain leather and nubuck

Sizes: 36–43, standard–X wide

“They were true to size and comfortable to wear right from the start. I really liked the style and design, too – they looked smart and stylish, so I was able to wear them at the yard and for horsey days out. The waterproof membrane goes up to the mid-calf and my feet didn’t get wet in spite of being caught in downpours. They’ve worn really well, I’ve walked miles in them and the lining has remained intact. It’s easy to wash them off if they get muddy and I also used them for riding, as they have a chunky rubber sole with a heel. They got a bit sweaty in warmer weather, but they aren’t really designed for warm weather riding.”

RRP
£79.95

Noble Outfitters women’s Stay Cool High Muds

Waterproof, shock-absorbing, antimicrobial insole, breathable, moisture-wicking mesh lining and anti-slip sole

Sizes: 3.5–8.5

“The boots were true to size, and I was particularly pleased that they come in half sizes. They took a little getting used to as they’re quite robust, so feel heavier than other boots. The grip was fantastic on muddy walks and around the yard. They’ve worn well, with no slouching, and after a clean look as good as new. They’re neoprene-lined so are lovely on cold days, and kept my feet warm and dry, although on warmer days, even though they are moisture-wicking, I found them a bit too hot. They’re functional and do their job well, but didn’t feel very stylish.”

RRP
£329.99

Ariat Braemar GTX boots

Waterproof leather upper with a waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex lining, shock absorbing midsole and Duratread outsole

Colours: Chestnut or ebony brown

Sizes 3–8.5

“The boots were very comfy, and I was happy to wear them for hours. I’ve worn them through downpours and walking around wet fields, and they were absolutely waterproof. They would be good for yard work, but they’re so nice that I have kept them for walks and horsey days out. They are expensive, but because of the top quality materials and technology they feel like a reasonable buy – especially as they look like they will last for years. It would be good to have the option of different calf fittings. The drawstring tightens them, but people with slimmer calves possibly wouldn’t get the look they were after.”

RRP
£159.99

Dublin Pinnacle boots

Waterproof and breathable with lace adjustment. Leather upper, heel and arch supports, and double cushioning layer

Size: 36–43

“These boots were true to size and a good fit. I especially liked the lacing down the side, which allowed for a larger calf and still looked stylish. They were comfortable right from the start and I had no rubs or blisters at all. I used them mainly for yard work, walking and light hacking. They are completely waterproof and, despite getting covered in mud, brushed up really well and looked good as new. They have a sweat control lining, which worked well and kept my feet from getting too hot. Because of the good design and comfort, I felt they were good value for money. I found that the grip wasn’t quite as good on very muddy ground, but on sand and firmer ground they were great.”

RRP
£50.00

Harry Hall Frost ladies winter boots

Neoprene leg, fleece-lined foot, reinforced inside leg, reflective detail, dirt- and water-resistant coating to upper

Sizes 3–8

“The boots didn’t need any breaking in and were comfy immediately. The zip was easy to do up and I liked the reflective piping. I get really cold feet in the winter, but the fleecy lining in the foot and the neoprene leg kept me warm and cosy. The rubber part was easy to clean, and the sole was nice and grippy on the yard and in the mud. They were comfortable to ride in, too, and the reinforced panel on the inside to protect the neoprene worked well. Although the appearance isn’t to my taste, in terms of comfort and performance they are excellent value for money. The neoprene part was hard to clean, especially when removing the grease from my horse’s coat.”

RRP
£89.50

Rhinegold Elite Vermont boots

Waxy leather outer and waterproof, breathable membrane, faux suede lining and elasticated vent with drawstring

Sizes: 36–42, normal or wide

“The boots were true to size and really comfy from day one. I’ve worn them on walks, on the yard and in all weather conditions, and they have kept my feet dry and comfortable. They’ve held their shape well and I was pleased that they haven’t slouched too much. Personally, I wouldn’t ride in them because of the ridged sole, but they are good for yard work and stylish enough to be worn for smarter country days out. I found that the inner soles tended to come out when I took them off and although I like the lace drawstring feature, it’s very thin and the bow slips undone.”

RRP
£118.99

Horze Rovigo tall boots

Waterproof, lined nubuck leather, double Velcro closure at the calf, durable sole and defined heel for riding

Sizes: 35–42

“I found these boots came up quite big. However, I liked that in colder weather I could wear thick socks without them being too tight. I get very cold feet, so I really liked that they had a fleece lining. They were comfortable from the start and are totally waterproof. I even wore them wading through a river and had no problems with wet feet. They have a good heel for riding, but I found the foot a bit chunky for my stirrups. The sole was tough and they had good grip in the mud. I found they were quite wide around the calf, so I had to close the straps as tight as possible for a good fit. They also slouched down a bit more than I would expect.”

RRP
£109.95

Horka York outdoor boots

Waterproof lined (except for zipper), outer calf leather and suede, mesh lining and an anti-slip rubber sole

Sizes: 36–46

“These boots were true to size and fitted really well. There was no need to break them in, as they were very comfortable from the first wear. I washed my car, walked my dog through wet, muddy fields and bathed my horse in them, and impressively my feet stayed perfectly dry. The thick tread was great for walking through muddy fields and they were breathable, so no hot, sweaty feet. I’ve worn them nearly every day and they’re still as good as new. I wouldn’t change anything. I love the style, height of the boot and how comfortable they are.”

RRP
£89.99

Mark Todd adjustable

Waterproof and breathable lining, grip sole and adjustable calf

Sizes: 37–42

“The boots came up quite big, so I had to wear them with thick socks. The sole is really comfortable and cushioned, which made them great for long days. I used them mainly for yard work and walking. My feet stayed dry in the rain and didn’t get too hot on warmer days. They’ve got good, grippy soles, so are great for walking in muddy fields. They have slouched down a little bit, but this hasn’t made them any less comfortable. They still look smart, too, as the dark brown colour has stopped them from looking grubby. They rubbed a bit to start with as the seam at the ankle is quite hard, although this has softened with wear. It was important to keep the touch tape fastenings free from dirt, so they keep working well.”

RRP
£160

Toggi Caledon boots

Waterproof and breathable, all-terrain thermo rubber sole, removable foot bed.

Sizes: 36–43

“The boots were true to size and a good fit. They were a little bit stiff in the leg to start with, but softened quickly and haven’t rubbed or caused any problems. They are waterproof – I’ve hosed them off lots of times after walking through muddy fields and never had wet feet. I like that they are smart enough and comfy enough for outdoor days out. They are quite expensive, but have a good sole for grip and comfort, and haven’t slouched, either, so I feel they’re an investment that is worth the cost. I wouldn’t have chosen a mid-length boot, but I actually found that they were more versatile and looked smarter than I expected.”

RRP
£95.99

Tuffa Fjord boots

Waterproof and breathable membranes, waxed nubuck leather, rubber riding soles

Sizes: 4–12

“These boots were comfy to wear and true to size. They look smart, and the elastic inserts make them easy to get on and off. They’re waterproof, which makes them a great yard boot. They didn’t make my feet too hot when the weather was warm, but they also didn’t keep my feet that warm on really cold days, so I think they’re better as a spring or summer boot. They brushed up well once I’d left them to dry and I could wear them with my chaps to use them for riding. They’re quite chunky, so I didn’t like to use them for riding, even though they’re designed for this purpose as well as being a yard boot.”

RRP
£94.90

Equi-Thème Dermo Dry with laces

ScotchGard protection against rain and stains, antibacterial, absorbent liner, rigid and anti-skid sole

Sizes: 36–44

“I found the boots came up quite big and I could comfortably wear thick socks on cold days. On really cold days they didn’t keep my feet that warm, but on warmer days my feet didn’t get hot, so they make good summer boots. I’ve worn them for lots of long days of walking, and they’ve kept my feet nice and comfortable. Despite all the wear, they still look smart and clean up easily. They’ve been great for yard work – the grippy sole worked really well in the mud and I love how supportive they are. I found that the panel behind the laces designed to keep the water out didn’t work particularly well, but the rest of the boot was totally waterproof.”

RRP
£90.00

Woof Wear Horizon boots

Waterproof nubuck leather upper, breathable internal waterproof membrane, multilayered insole, canvas ankle guard, sole suitable for riding and walking.

Colours: Black or chestnut
Sizes: 37–42

“I really liked that they were comfy from first wear and I’ve had no rubs or blisters, and no issues with wet feet, either. They’ve worn really well, the quality is good and they seem to be built to last. I really like how breathable they are – my feet didn’t sweat in them at all, and I liked the option of having a shorter boot that still offered good support and protection. Although you can ride in these boots, I found them quite chunky and mainly used them as a yard boot. I found they came up quite big, so I ended up with a size smaller than usual. I also found them quite heavy, but generally really liked them.”
