1️⃣ Ensure he has frequent access to high-quality hay or pasture and clean water to support efficient digestion

2️⃣ Feed a well-balanced diet that meets his nutritional needs

3️⃣ Implement slow-feeding methods to mimic his natural grazing behaviour and help prevent him from overeating

4️⃣ Allow adequate turnout time to encourage movement, grazing and social interaction

5️⃣ Be cautious with the amount and type of concentrates (grains) fed, and avoid feeding too much generally

In August Horse&Rider, @aliciawilkinsoneventing shares her top tips for ensuring travelling is a happy and relaxed experience for you and your horse! 🥰

Here come the girls 💁‍♀️

This year, Australia will start an all female team, 24 years since the last ones represented their countries at an Olympics – at Sydney in 2000 – when the USA team was made up of Margie Goldstein-Engle, Lauren Hough, Laura Kraut and Nona Garson and finished sixth, while Sweden’s Maria Gretzer, Malin Baryard-Johnsson, Helena Lundback and Lisen Fredricson came seventh.

The Australian team is made up of Hilary Scott riding Milky Way, Thaisa Erwin riding Hialita B and Edwina Tops-Alexander riding Fellow Castlefield.

The best 10 teams from today’s round, including those tied for 10th place, will qualify for the team final tomorrow, when they will jump in reverse order of merit.

The first Individual competition will take place next Monday, 5 August, and the top 30 will qualify for the following day’s Individual Final, when all combinations will start on a zero score and compete in reverse order of merit based on their placing in the Qualifier.

🚧 12-14 obstacles in a course
📏 Jump heights are between 1.40-1.65m
🫣 Penalties and time incurred will determine score
🏆 The best 10 teams compete in the final

Individual competition:
📆 Qualifier 5 August
📆 Final on 6 August

⏱ One round against the clock in the qualifier, the final includes a jump off!
🚧 12-14 obstacles in a course (12-15 in the final)
📏 Jump heights are between 1.40-1.65m
🫣 Penalties and time incurred will determine score
🏆 The best 30 combinations compete in the final

❌ Elimination for rider/horse fall
❌ Elimination for two stops
4️⃣5️⃣ seconds to start after bell rings
