I used this for a greedy pony who normally inhales his hay. It’s been great and really slowed his eating while increasing movement due to him pushing it around. I loved that it encouraged a natural eating position, and it was just as effective in the stable as in the field. The colour has stayed bright, and it’s showing very few signs of wear and tear for an item used – and kicked – regularly. It was easy to unscrew and fill with forage. Overall, it’s really helped reduce boredom in the stable.
How much do you know about stereotypies? This is the scientific term for any repetitive behaviour. In horses, the most common are crib-biting, windsucking, weaving and box walking. In May Horse&Rider, Dr Debbie Marsden shares her advice for dealing with stereotypic behaviours. Check out a sneak peek here. www.horseandrideruk.com/the-magazine/issues/may-2024/force-of-habit/...
