After announcing that this year’s event wouldn’t have tickets for sale on the gate, Badminton Horse Trials has now reached maximum capacity for cross-country day

This year’s Badminton Horse Trials (taking place 5–8 May 2022), presented by Mars Equestrian, has seen its cross-country day – Saturday 7 May – sell out after reaching maximum capacity. This is the first time in its history that the event has operated an advance tickets only policy.

“Saturday car passes and personal admission tickets have sold out due to reaching capacity that the site can accommodate,” said a spokesperson for Badminton.

“We know that there will be disappointed customers, but tickets are still available for Thursday, Friday and Sunday provided they are booked by midnight on the day before attending.”

For those keen to follow the cross-country action but unable to attend or no longer get hold of tickets, live action of the entire four-day CCI5* (excluding the top 10 showjumping rounds) will be shown on subscription service Badminton TV, available to purchase for an annual fee of £19.99. There will be no BBC Red Button coverage this year but a highlights programme, followed by live coverage of the top-10 showjumping rounds, will be shown on Sunday (8 May) from 2.15–4.30pm.

Action is already under way at Badminton Horse Trials with the Voltaire Designs Badminton Grassroots championships. With championship courses at BE90 and BE100, many riders have been waiting for their opportunity to compete at the prestigious venue for two years, and the competition is due to reach its exciting end later on today (4 May).
