Ex-racehorse (Clare Poole)

A well-respected expert in equine orthopaedics, throughout her career Dr Sue Dyson has led the way in clinical investigation and research into the diagnosis and management of lameness and poor performance in horses. Recognised with an Honorary Membership of the British Equine Veterinary Association, Sue spent 37 years at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket and will now support Moorcroft Equine Rehabilitation Centre in its work rehabilitating and reschooling horses.

Mary Frances, CEO of Moorcroft, comments: “We’re thrilled to have Sue’s support to guide us in the work we do here at the centre. Although the charity was originally set up to rehabilitate and rehome ex-racehorses, over the years the number of requests to help other breeds has grown. As well as continuing to support ex-racehorses, we now welcome horses from caring owners who want short or long-term help with backing or re-backing youngsters, getting horses back to work after surgery or a long lay-off, understanding and managing lameness problems while focusing on rehabilitation to optimise musculoskeletal function. I’m certain all horses at the centre will benefit from Sue’s input and expertise.”

Sue adds: “I’m pleased to be supporting the work of the Moorcroft team and look forward to working with them in the months to come. I’ve visited the centre a number of times already to provide help and advice and feel strongly that there’s a real need for a rehabilitation facility of this kind. I hope our collective work enables many horses to get the help they need in order to regain their fitness and athleticism.”

With 70 acres of land, an indoor and outdoor school and amazing hacking onto the South Downs, Moorcroft Equine Rehabilitation Centre offers a sympathetic approach to equine rehabilitation.
