Summer showing festival lost to coronavirus

A firm favourite for amateur show riders nationwide, Equifest (due to take place 19-23 August 2020) has been cancelled from this year’s competition calendar

Following the guidelines set out by the government for the forthcoming months, a statement from Equifest explains that it will be unable to host its 2020 event. It continues: “Our paramount concern is for the health and wellbeing of our competitors, exhibitors, judges and stewards during this time. It would therefore not be possible to plan and run an event of this scale while Covid-19 is still prominent throughout the country, and we hope for your support on this decision.”

The show, which attracts over 10,000 visitors and competitors, and hosts a series of exciting evening performances throughout the week with supreme sashes and titles galore, is a firm favourite and popular summer holiday destination for many equine enthusiasts. However, the statement continues: “This is an unprecedented and challenging time for everyone and with Equifest being the largest amateur horse show in the UK, health and safety has to remain our number one priority.” It’s been advised that, in the meantime, fans keep an eye on the show’s social media channels for more information.

Sad to be missing out on the show? The countdown is on for next year – Equifest 2021 will run from 18–22 August, so block out your diary and allow the excitement to start building!
