This evening, it was announced that the Voltaire Design Liverpool International Horse Show would be the latest victim of the ongoing Covid pandemic. After the success of Horse of the Year Show at the beginning of October and with the pre-Christmas London International Horse Show still due to go ahead, many equestrians are disappointed that the New Year spectacle, due to take place 31 December 2021 – 3 January 2022 has already made the decision to cancel.

In a statement released by the event, the decision was put down to “the ever-changing Covid-19 environment” and “the recent announcements made by the Government and The Liverpool Health Protection Board”.

“We are naturally devastated to be making this decision and can only hope that our loyal supporters understand our genuine reasons for being forced to cancel this year’s event,” explained Managing Director Nina Barbour. “The reality of the situation is that we have to measure the risks of moving forward with an indoor event in early January, with the facts and concerns that we currently face whilst having to carefully negotiate the ongoing uncertainty relating to this pandemic.”

She cited cancellation as “the only responsible thing to do”. All current ticket holders of the event will be entitled to a full refund including ticketing fees, and all ticket buyers will be contacted by email from their ticket agent.

Nina ended: “It goes without saying that we remain fully committed to supporting equestrian sport moving forwards and we will be throwing our energy into making all the exciting events that we have planned for 2022 truly the best experiences that we can for everyone involved”.
