Places have been cemented ahead of the FEI Dressage World Cup Final in Omaha

With just a few weeks to go until the FEI Dressage World Cup Final is held in Omaha, USA, the qualifying season has come to a close, with Isabell Werth of Germany leading the way on the Western European League table. New names are competing this year, though, and younger riders have also qualified, thereby opening the competitive field to a wider range of contenders.

The 2022 qualifying season saw some restructuring ahead of the final, with changes to the points system. Previously, each qualifying region has had its own points system, but now the points from the Western European, Central European and North American leagues carry equal weighting.

No one from Great Britain will be competing at this year’s final, as although double world champion Charlotte Fry has qualified on Glamourdale, she will not be heading out to Omaha.

FEI Dressage Sport Manager Philippe Maynier said: “Isabell is really a fighter when she’s entering an arena. Luckily, I was there when Omaha last hosted the finals in 2017…Most of the athletes coming from Europe are usually very enthusiastic to compete outside of Europe.”
