There’s something for the whole family at Thoresby Park Eventing Spring Carnival

The Eventing Spring Carnival takes place at the beautiful Thoresby Park, Nottinghamshire, from 31 March–2 April 2023. There is a great selection of activities on offer this year, including 4* international eventing, Pony Club competitions and a fundraising ball. There will also be the chance to chat to top riders and trainers, plus a classic car meet will keep entertained those who prefer horsepower to horses.

With a course designed by Captain Mark Phillips and BEDE Events’ Stuart Buntine, the highly coveted Lycetts Grantham Cup CCI4*-S will culminate in the cross-country final on the Sunday. The event’s early season position makes it an ideal preparatory run for the Badminton Horse Trials a month later, with an entry list featuring top international riders and stars of the future.

New this year is the chance for Pony Club competitors to jump in the main arena on both the Saturday and Sunday. The Mini Major competition for juniors and seniors will be held on the Saturday and the Area 6 team competition will take place the following day.

Another new feature this year is the Allstar B enclosure, which is situated in a prime viewing spot overlooking the main arena and the cross-country course. It will show live streaming of the event and there will be educational and interesting talks from eventing professionals throughout the competition, as well as complimentary breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea available.

Saturday evening sees the return of the charity ball to Thoresby Hall. The aim this year is to raise £10,000 for sporting charities through ticket sales and a silent auction.

Within the trade and food village, the new Equitex Rider Zone, will give eventing enthusiasts a chance to meet riders and brand ambassadors, and there will also be 500 rare and restored classic cars on display for petrol heads to enjoy.

Director of BEDE Events Stuart Buntine said: “This year’s Eventing Spring Carnival is guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever, with something to keep every member of the family entertained. Whether it is our Kids in the Courtyard activities, fairground attractions, local and artisan food avenue, the hospitality enclosures or the world-class sporting action.”
