One of the most successful horses of all time, King Solomon III, was part of the silver medal winning team in Athens in 2004.
Partnered by Mary King for over a decade, ‘Solly’ won Badminton in 2002 before finishing 3rd at Burghley in the same year. He had three other top five four-star finishes and was individual 5th at the 2003 European Championships in a career that amassed over 1500 British eventing points.
The eventing great was retired from eventing in 2005, when he turned his hoof to dressage – competing up to advanced medium level with Mary’s friend Paula Lee.
King Solomon was euthanized on September 20th following a bout of Lymphangitis, the painful condition which causes the inflammation of the lymphatic vessels.
