Take part in the BETA 2023 trade awards by nominating your favourite horsey business
In the UK, we’re lucky enough to have some of the best manufacturers and retailers in the equestrian world providing us with everything we need for our horses – not forgetting ourselves, too, when it comes to riding gear. Whether it’s saddlery, feed, clothing, safety equipment or general horse care items, we have an enviable choice of top-quality products to choose from and access to first-class services whenever we need specialist advice.
What you might not know is that many British businesses within the equestrian industry – currently more than 800 – are members of BETA, the trade association that supports and officially represents them, both at home and abroad. BETA also works to maintain the highest of industry standards.
Every year, BETA recognises outstanding members of the trade through the British Equestrian Trade Awards, the horsey ‘Oscars’ presented to those businesses voted as going above and beyond for the benefit of the equestrian community, and nominations are now open for this year’s awards.
If you have a favourite equestrian business that provides great products or perhaps one that’s given you excellent service, now’s your chance to give them a shoutout by voting for them in one of four categories that form part of the 2023 awards.
Winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony on 10 September.
Safety Fitter of the Year Award
This award recognises hat and body protector fitters with a high level of competence who have gone the extra mile to ensure their customers have the right product for their needs and the best fit possible. Fitters must be based in an equestrian shop.
Zebra Products Retailer of the Year Award
Aimed at tack shops and feed merchants who provide excellent service and products, there are categories for physical stores and online retailers. There’s also a chance to vote for new stores in a separate category.

Stubbs England Nutritional Helpline of the Year
This award is for companies that offer excellence in nutritional advice and service to their customers. Companies can be those that retail or make feed and/or supplements but they must also provide formal advice on feeding and nutrition.
Equine Fitter Award (Saddlery, Bits and Bridles)
With the aim of recognising the work of saddle, bit and bridle fitters, this award is for those who show very high levels of competence and service to their customers, both before and after purchase.
