The Royal Windsor Horse Show confirms CDI4* FEI dressage as part of line up for 2023

Organisers of the Royal Windsor Horse Show (RWHS) have confirmed the return of international dressage to the private grounds of Windsor Castle after a four-year break. Defender, the principal partner of the show, will be sponsoring the Defender CDI4* FEI Dressage which will be run over two days, attracting some of the world’s best riders.

The Grand Prix will take place behind closed doors with limited tickets available on Wednesday 10 May, while the Freestyle to Music is to be set in front of a packed audience on Thursday 11 May. Celebrated Olympian Charlotte Dujardin (pictured) took the title in 2019 when dressage was last held at the show.

Show Director, Simon Brooks-Ward, is thrilled to be welcoming back international dressage, which is the highlight for many of the show’s spectators and offers the public the chance to see some of the most talented dressage combinations in action.

With the return of CDI4* dressage, RWHS is the only UK show to host international competitions in show jumping, dressage, driving and endurance. It will also enhance the British Dressage calendar with the All England Dressage Festival at Hickstead hosting CDI3* classes a few days later. This should attract top British and European combinations to compete, who will be looking to impress selectors ahead of the European Dressage Championships later this year.

Richard Davison, team silver medallist at the 2022 World Championships, said, “The return of CDI4* dressage to RWHS is very exciting. The show has a unique atmosphere and being able to ride in the private grounds of Windsor Castle is such a special experience.
