A new and safe radiation technology allows your horse to be his own therapist

If you thought it would be impossible to have a rug that helped your horse feel more relaxed or a saddlecloth that loosened your horse’s back during ridden work, then think again. The Protechmasta range from Harry Hall uses special technology to do just that.

Even better, this technology relies on the body’s normal functions to bring about the desired results.

The products in the Protechmasta range are made from a technical fabric that has a special ceramic powder infused into the yarn. This emits a safe form of far-infrared radiation, also known as biogenetic radiation, which, when the fabric is worn (for example in a rug), is reflected towards the horse’s body, then back to the rug and, in turn, to the horse again in a cycle. The result is a gentle, warming effect similar to sitting in the sun, with all the soothing benefits but none of the damage of harmful UV rays.

A natural therapy

Far-infrared radiation is becoming widely used in human therapies to gently and safely improve blood circulation, to help reduce swelling, to ease muscle tension and to support in the recovery from or prevention of injury.

In 2021, Harry Hall carried out a survey aimed at purchasers of items in the Protechmasta range and of the 886 respondents, 80% noticed an improvement in their horse’s ridden work when using the products, while 55% said their horse was more relaxed.

Benefits of far-infrared radiation include:

  • Assists circulation
  • Helps ease swollen or filled legs
  • Helps ease muscle tension
  • Aids recovery
  • Can aid relaxation

Slowly does it

When introducing your horse to the Protechmasta range, start slowly, only using the product for a maximum of four hours per session during the first week to allow the body to adjust. After a couple of weeks, increase this time until eventually you’re using the product as often as possible to achieve maximum results.

Protechmasta products are generally competition safe but as equestrian sport’s governing bodies change their rules from time to time, it’s always best to check first before competing.

Protechmasta products may be used alongside established treatment methods but they are not a replacement for professional medical advice or treatment. Consult your vet if you’re unsure.

“My pony loves this rug – how do I know? Because I put it on him before a ride and after 15 mins he starts to yawn and close his eyes! Normally he can’t stand still! He can sometimes be quite tight in his back but when I use this rug before and after a ride he is more relaxed than in a normal fleece rug.” Maxine A *****

Protechmasta Infrared Quarter Rug – £55.95

“I absolutely love this quarter rug. I bought it for warming up at dressage competitions, but I’m now using it at home, too. My mare doesn’t like the cold weather and gets tight and tense. This rug 100% helps her relax and settle through her back. Highly recommended. I even had it personalised and it looks super-smart and professional.” Katherine J *****

Protechmasta Infrared Airmesh Saddlecloths GP and Dressage £55.30

“This is a super saddlecloth which looks smart and really works. The horses definitely feel more supple and relaxed through their backs and loosen up much quicker during their warm-up. Even after hard work, there is minimal sweat under the saddle. The pad also washes well.” Carrie S *****

Protechmasta Fly Veil with Soundproof Ears – £29.95

“I was recommended this by my trainer as my horse is noise sensitive. I used the fly veil for the first time today at the Sheepgate Area Festival and the difference in my horse was amazing.  He was calm and relaxed, soft in his poll and was not bothered by the loudspeaker or anything. I would highly recommend this fly veil to anyone who has a noise sensitive horse.” Tracey L *****

Protechmasta SilverAid Leg Wraps – £66.47
